Are you unsure whether to pursue a career as a CA or a CS? Students in the business stream are frequently perplexed while deciding on a professional path, particularly when they must select between two very clear options in the commerce stream, namely, CA and CS.
In this article, we’ll go over all of the details of the two courses so you can make the best decision for your abilities and interests.
The two courses for a commerce student, similar to engineering and medical care for a science student, are Charted Accountant (CA) and Company Secretary (CS).
Before deciding between the two courses, it is necessary to have a thorough understanding of both. So, let’s take a closer look at the two courses.
CA vs CS – Salary and Career Scope
CS – COMPANY SECRETARY
Company Secretary is abbreviated as CS. The Institute of Company Secretaries of India is hosting the event (ICSI). This exam, like the CA, has three stages.
Executive Program
Foundation Program
Professional Program
The foundation course is open to anyone who has completed their 12th grade or equivalent.
Students from the Commerce, Science, and Arts streams. Students who have completed their 12th grade can enrol for the Executive Course after passing the foundation course. Graduates from the science, commerce, and arts streams can enter the Company Sectary executive Course without first completing the Foundation Program.
After passing the Executive Program, you can move on to the professional Course. As a qualified CS, you can work in a corporation as a legal expert, corporate planner, strategic manager, chief advisor, executive secretary, and so on.
There are two papers in each level of this course, each lasting 1.5 hours. Each level’s exam is four hours long, with one hour set out for breaks.
In fact, the CS scaling is so severe that only a small percentage of players are able to complete all three stages.
CA – CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT
CA stands for Chartered Accountant, and it is one of our country’s most popular and respected courses. When choosing between CA and CS, students from the commerce stream typically pick CA. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is the regulatory body for chartered accounting in India (ICAI).
A fourth stage of practical training, known as Articleship, is also available. The practical training lasts three years, and once you have passed either one or both of the CA Intermediate groups, you can enrol in practical training with a working CA to get practical knowledge of the course.
CA Foundation, the first level of this course, comprises of four papers, two of which are objective and two of which are subjective. The CA Final follows a similar pattern, consisting of two groups of four papers each.
To be a qualified CA you are required to clear each of its levels
CA is one of our country’s most difficult tests, therefore before you begin studying for it, make the decision that under any circumstances, whatever it takes, I will be a CA and that I will have the confidence to pass each of its levels on the first attempt. If you have this level of commitment, then CA is the course for you; otherwise, you should consider another option.
“Everyone wants to be happy, no one wants to be in pain,” as the saying goes, “but there can be no rainbow without a little rain.” CA is similar in that it is a very hard course that is also very rewarding. Once you become a CA, you will have a plethora of employment options, including excellent work possibilities and the opportunity to be your own boss by opening your own practice.
